Spartan Theme

Sorry for the very long absence, I have a long list of drafts but I can’t, for the life of me, give body to them. So I just created a wordpress theme that I planned some months before.
It is called Spartan, because I don’t have a knack for giving great names, it is a simple 2-column blue-and-yellow theme with minimal images. It is designed for 1024×764 screen resolution and is currently fixed but the footer is fluid. It is also widget ready for both sidebar and footer.
A few notes:
- If you’re going to put an image of yourself in your sidebar as well, put the class “avatar” so it would be given the right style
- When adding widgets to the footer, you might notice that it has such a big height, that’s because of the calendar
- The footer links are not required but I would appreciate it if you would keep it
- The theme has been tested in all major browsers but there’s just so many things I could do for IE, sorry IE lovers
- I made the theme usable and accessible by applying some usability and accessibility rules such as:
- Adding the skip links
- Using the proper tags
- Made use of a conditional tag so the homepage is not linking to itself, I also did the same in the single posts
- Making links stand out
- Most of the colors have enough color contrast except the foreground and the background color of the h1 but I assume it’s just right since it is huge enough
