Redesigned

It’s been a couple of months already since I made a custom theme for Tech Hive. I have been using my Spartan theme which sucks big time. I knew I’m really not good with creating something that can be used by everyone. Sad, I know :(

Anyway, for some time now, I wanted to stop using plain and clean backgrounds. So I came up with this after obsessing over pownce’s design for sometime. I loved what I did with the background that I hate to see it covered by a solid color so I used PNG! A transparent PNG over a transparent PNG, yes, yes it’s pownce!

I’m pretty sure I just crossed some serious accessibility rules (just look at the colors) but sometimes, I guess it’s OK to break some rules. And I haven’t done something like this before so… Sorry if the colors hurts your eyes, I’m still looking into it.

I’m very proud of the designs that I come up with for this blog because it’s not the type of designs that I usually create.

I got into a couple of galleries because of this, I originally intended for this to be for my portfolio but I got tired of it and used it here instead.

And now this! I hope I can finally finish my portfolio because that’s another something I usually don’t do. Anyway, I just fixed some obvious bugs that I could find so if you ever encounter something don’t hesitate to let me know :)

Oh, and yeah, the inner pages look horrible and I haven’t added any pagination for the homepage yet. I didn’t set up a dev environment for this, I only checked it locally because I’m lazy like that lol.

I wanted to but I can’t lol what you see using Fx is also what you’ll see in IE, pretty much :P

IE6 problem - just the padding or margin on the rightside

If only that would be easy haha

Glad to see you taking risks with transparency and such. You should also have a conditional for IE6 and below where the transparent bg is replaced with a solid color, even though it will be different at least they will still have something nice to look at.

Thanks max :) Actually, it’s still transparent in IE6 ;)

Awesome! Can you give me some info on how you achieved this? Thanks.

Just follow the steps in this blog post of mine >> http://www.tech-hive.com/css-tips/the-great-IE-6-hack/ There are certain limitations to the “hack” but overall, it’s nice. :)
